Chion-In Temple - Sanmon Gate
• Built in 1619. • 24 metres tall. • One of the largest surviving wooden structures of its kind in Japan. •The photo above is from the annual yearly Autumn/fall season illumination event. The Sanmon gate and the grounds of the temple, which ordinarily are draped in darkness after sundown, are beautifully lit up, utilising multi colored lighting techniques.
