Maiko & Geiko 1
•Maiko style their own hair in the "Wareshinobu" Style which makes a bun using a red cloth and tied in two loops resembling a butterfly. Which is representative of a Maiko's inexperience. •They also use a silver "Bira" and other flower ornaments known as "Kanzashi", which represent her youth. •A noticeable gap between the white make up and the Maiko's hairline down to the back of her ears and the nape of her neck with 2 lines left bare. •Comparitively, Geiko always wear a wig in the "Shimada" Style, using less hair ornaments, and usually only a comb at the back. •They fully cover with white make up from their face all the way to the back of their neck. •Overall a Geiko's style is a much more toned down and mature style, representative of her experience and deep knowledge of the profession.
